This problem starts with the principle of flashlight. The lamp tube of modern studio flashlight is inert gas. After the instantaneous discharge of the capacitor, the lamp of several hundred watts instantly reaches high brightness. Most flash tubes are designed in a ring shape, on the one hand, making full use of inert gas, on the other hand, it is conducive to the shaping of light quality by lamp accessories. In rigorous lighting photography, ambient light and other stray light are unstable factors. The studio is to use blackout curtains and other objects to avoid light into a dark room. However, when the flash does not trigger, it does not light up, and the modeling light is applied. It is bright when it is not flashing, which is convenient for various preliminary preparations. It also cannot affect the flash, the diameter cannot exceed the inner diameter of the flash tube, and most are designed to be cylindrical. I don't know if the process is complicated, but it is more than 10 times more expensive than a round belly tungsten bulb. There is no other special reason, it is the process limitation, the color temperature is biased, with 5600K, it must be warmer.
